Phoenix House New England Public Service Award Luncheon
Phoenix House New England will present the region’s inaugural Public Service Award Luncheon on Wednesday, June 29, 2015, honoring four outstanding community leaders whose achievements and service to society inspire individuals struggling to reclaim disordered lives. Awardees include The Honorable Thomas P. Koch, Mayor, City of Quincy; The Honorable Steven A. Tolman, President, Massachusetts AFL-CIO and former Massachusetts Senator; William J. Ostiguy, Chairman, The Gavin Foundation; and The Reverend Eric M. Hillegas, Rector, St. Chrysostom's Episcopal Church and President, Quincy’s Inter-Church Council.
The luncheon will be held at the Neighborhood Club of Quincy, 27 Glendale Road, Quincy, Massachusetts 02169. Festivities will begin at 11:30 AM with a reception and the luncheon will begin promptly at 12:00 Noon. Dan Jaehnig, News Anchor, NBC 10 WJAR and a Quincy native, will serve as Master of Ceremonies. Proceeds from the Luncheon support the work of Phoenix House, one of the region’s leading nonprofit substance abuse treatment organizations, to save lives from the opioid addiction epidemic ravaging Massachusetts and the entire nation.
All four honorees have shown outstanding commitment to the people of Quincy and the Commonwealth, particularly at a time when the opioid epidemic has taken a devastating toll on communities. Mayor Koch has provided exceptional support of Phoenix House’s efforts to combat the epidemic through our services in Quincy. Senator Tolman was one of the first state leaders to sound the alarm about the epidemic, providing a wake-up call to all Massachusetts residents and leaders a number of years ago. Mr. Ostiguy’s commitment to adolescents and adults struggling with substance use disorders throughout Greater Boston is witnessed by his strong support of the Gavin Foundation’s partnership with Phoenix House. Father Hillegas and the Inter-Church Council have provided invaluable service to individuals receiving treatment for substance use disorders at Phoenix House.
More than 200 guests are expected to attend the luncheon. Proceeds from the event support substance abuse treatment programs and services provided by Phoenix House. Tickets to the Luncheon cost $100 per person. For information about sponsorship opportunities or to make reservations for the event, call 401 331 4250, Ext. 93210.
