The announcement is part of Quincy's celebration of "National Electric Drive Week."\n\n \n\nNational Electric Drive Week\, is a weeklong celebration for communities to showcase plug-in EV drivers\, supporters\, and businesses\, while highlighting the clean-air benefits\, cost-savings and fun of electric vehicles (EVs).\n\n \n\nQuincy's Electric Car Showcase will feature information about different models of plug-in EVs\, where and how to charge them\, and federal\, state and other incentives available to buyers.\n\n \n\nThere will be several EV models at the event\, including the Chevy Bolt\, Chevy Volt\, Toyota Prius Plug-In\, Nissan Leaf and Kia Soul EV. While more than 500\,000 electric vehicles have been sold\, they are still comparatively unknown to most consumers. This event gives the public a chance to learn about EVs. Electric cars use much less energy than traditional cars\, and have lower maintenance costs. Full electric vehicles have no tailpipe emissions. With more models now available\, the purchase cost is often comparable to gasoline-powered cars\, and are less expensive to operate.\n\n \n\nThe City of Quincy's Mayor's Office\, Department of Public Buildings\, and Department of Planning and Community Development teamed up with National Drive Electric Week national organizers\, Plug In America\, the Sierra Club\, and the Electric Auto Association to organize Quincy's first-ever electric car showcase.
