KKatie’s Burger Bar Announces Winners from First Annual Art Contest

Quincy, MA, September 14, 2017–On September 13, 2017 7:00PM, KKatie’s Burger Bar, 1440 Hancock Street Quincy selected the winners for their First Annual Art Contest.  Contestants were North Quincy High art students (Grades 9-12) who submitted entries in one of two categories:  Black and White Photography and Design and Visual Communications.  A judging panel, consisting of Tim Cahill, President and Executive Director of the Quincy Chamber of Commerce, Ellen Bragalone, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and Michael Hanson, North Quincy High School, selected from the 29 entries which have been on display in the restaurant since early August.  Popular vote awards were also issued .
Grand Prize in the black and white photography category went to Kelly Phelan for her photograph “Squantum”.  Popular vote award in this category went to Jacob Spear for his photograph “Fence.”
Grand Prize for Design and Visual Communication went to Larry Zheng.  Popular vote winner was Nick Andrade.
Grand Prize winners will receive a year of free burgers at KKatie’s (one per month), a $50 gift card for art supplies, and passes to the Museum of Fine Arts.  Winners of the popular vote will receive a $50 KKatie’s gift card.  Artwork for the top 6 contestants will be featured in the restaurant for one year.
All entries will be on display at the restaurant through the end of September.
10 % of the proceeds from the judging reception will be donated to the North Quincy High Art Department.
